The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Share Frustration About Size Updates
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel without notifying every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Sizing System Updates
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
