19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a difficult period, managing just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's initial title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of the previous year.

Success also signifies he has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden tour title, took control to create a third set.

Moutet saved four early chances in a close final set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
