Weather experts are saying a frosty commencement to the new year, with snow anticipated throughout a lot of the UK. Those celebrating are advised to wrap up as near-freezing temperatures are predicted for New Year's Eve.

Celebratory Celebrations Continue Despite Alerts

Heading into Friday, weather warnings are active across Northern Ireland and stretching from Wales, through the north-west, the West Midlands and through to London and the majority of the south-east of England.

Temperatures Forecast to Fall Further

As 2026 begins, it will be "chilly no matter where you are," commented forecaster Simon Partridge. Conditions are expected to drop further as wintry showers and strong winds are predicted to batter the north of the country.

Approximately 10cm of snow could accumulate to have settled in some areas by Friday morning, reaching up to 30cm on the highest roads and hills.

Health Alerts Issued
